Common reasons why names are rejected

Most names are rejected because they are too similar to an existing corporate name within the same industry.  For example, "Mining" and "Explorations" would be considered too similar.  View the groupings of similar descriptive words for examples of descriptive words within specific industries that would be considered too similar.

Another reason for rejection is lack of a distinctive and/or descriptive element.  For example, names that would NOT be approved are:

The Clothing Store

The Car Wash Ltd.

Neither of these names contains a distinctive first word.

To ensure a name is approved, a distinctive first word or phrase, your full name, or a geographic location are often choices that would satisfy a requirement for a distinctive first word.  Again, the more common your name is or the more common the geographic location would limit your chances for success.
